The Assassination of King Malaky XV
King Malaky XV, known as "The Peacemaker," was assassinated by Wyranth agents who infiltrated the Rislandian camp during the fierce border conflict.
The Battle
During the 24th year of his reign, Wyranth forces launched a massive three-pronged invasion along the Border River. King Malaky XV traveled to the front lines to personally oversee the defense, despite the protests of his guards.
The Death
On Day 28 of the Month of the Fool, Wyranth agents who had infiltrated the camp killed the king. Baron Theodore von Monocle recorded the moment starkly in his log: "We received the worst news imaginable. King Malaky has been assassinated. How can this kingdom ever be the same?"
Aftermath
The assassination galvanized the kingdom. Rislandian forces fought with renewed fury and eventually drove the Wyranth back. Prince Malaky chose not to be crowned immediately, waiting until the new year and until the Wyranth were completely driven from Rislandian soil.
