Heather was a young girl, approximately ten years old, discovered alone in the ruins of Portsgate after soldiers attacked the settlement. She was found hiding in a basement and subsequently agreed to accompany those who found her to The Liliana.

High Priest Benedictus III

He was assassinated by poison during mass in approximately Year 635 and became a martyr beloved by common people throughout history.

High Priest Gregorius

High Priest Gregorius was the successor to High Priest Benedictus and a leading figure of the Church of the Great One who was arrested by Emperor Nerovan the Mad after refusing to swear absolute loyalty to the throne. He died in prison, officially of illness but in truth by murder.

Ivan, the Iron Emperor

Ivan IV, the Iron Emperor of the Wyranth Empire, was a calculating and cultured tyrant who repeatedly proposed marriage to Zaira von Monocle as a means of controlling Rislandia, manipulated her into undertaking the Zenwey expedition, and ultimately became her betrothed and a reluctant ally against the Nightmen; in The Steam Knight, he was rumored to have obtained airship design plans that disappeared from The Liliana after Zaira deliberately rammed it into a giant creature to end the battle.

Jacin

King Malaky XII

He is remembered for his diplomatic temperament, his efforts to avoid and then end the Fantasy War (Years 375–383), and his extensive work rebuilding the kingdom in its aftermath.

King Malaky XIII

King Malaky XIII, nicknamed 'the Scholar,' reigned over Rislandia for twenty-nine years (Years 389–418) and was remembered for his intellectual pursuits, his expansion of the Great Library, his patronage of scientific inquiry, and his covert resumption of crystal magic research in violation of treaty obligations. He died at age 70 in Year 418 and was succeeded by his son, Malaky XIV.

King Malaky XIV

King Malaky XIV, known as 'the Just Commander,' reigned over Rislandia for forty-nine years (Years 418–467) and is remembered for modernizing the kingdom's military and presiding over the Wyranth War of Years 437–442. He is also celebrated for personally elevating Frederick von Monocle to the baronetcy, founding the von Monocle noble line.

King Malaky XV

King Malaky XV was the king of Rislandia whose reign spanned at least 25 years before he was assassinated by Wyranth on Day 28 of the Month of the Fool in the 25th year of his reign. He was a central figure in both The Fight for Rislandia and The Blood of Giants, remembered for his leadership during the Wyranth conflict and his conferral of honors upon the von Monocle family.

King Malaky XVI

King Malaky XVI, full title King Malaky the Sixteenth of the Rislandian Kingdom, was the reigning monarch of Rislandia during the events of For Steam and Country, The Blood of Giants, The Fight for Rislandia, The Iron Wedding, and The Steam Knight. He bore the epithet "The Tested" and ruled through some of the most turbulent periods in Rislandian history. His reign was used as the kingdom's primary dating system, with log entries and official documents recorded by year of his rule. By the close of The Iron Wedding, his health had visibly deteriorated, and his daughter Princess Reina stood ready to lead Rislandia into an uncertain future.
