Wayde
Wayde was a slave held in the Nightmen City. Described as a "haggard man," he was distinguished by his long unkempt beard, dirt-covered face, and tattered clothing — the visible marks of his captivity and hardship.
Overview
Wayde was one of the enslaved individuals kept within the Nightmen city. He became notable among the slave population for his open defiance of his captors, refusing to carry out his assigned tasks and declining to report to the mines as ordered.
Role in The Blood of Giants
In The Blood of Giants, Wayde's refusal to comply with his duties drew the attention of Oyette, who brought him before the assembled slaves to serve as a warning and example of the consequences of disobedience. Nightmen guards subjected Wayde to a public punishment using electric staffs, causing him to fall to the ground convulsing from the strikes. Despite this, Wayde attempted to run through the crowd toward Oyette before being caught.
Description
Wayde bore the appearance of a man worn down by captivity: a long, unkempt beard, a face marked with dirt, and clothing reduced to tatters. The text describes him as a "haggard man."
