Lieutenant Fearson was an officer of the Grand Rislandian Army and one of two soldiers assigned to the mission chronicled in The Steam Knight. He served as a scout and guide before meeting his end at the hands of Lou (Knight of the Crystal Spire) and his associates.

Description

Fearson wore the gray uniform of the Grand Rislandian Army, distinguished by a pendant of the Crest of Malaky positioned above the right breast and a matching cap bearing a smaller version of the same pendant. He carried a rifle strapped to his back and had several days' worth of stubble on his face. He was observed chewing on a green substance and spitting it to the side. He offered practical advice on marksmanship, noting: "Lotta rifles got a kick, and you gotta be ready for it."

Role in The Steam Knight

In The Steam Knight, Fearson was introduced to Ethan von Lantern by Cid as one of two Grand Rislandian Army soldiers assigned to the mission. Drawing on his prior familiarity with the area, Fearson led the scouting party down the road at night. During the night scout of a house, he circled around the structure in the opposite direction from Ethan. He did not return to camp after the scout concluded, and Ethan did not meet up with him again after James Gentry shouted. His fate at that point remained unknown, with capture considered a possibility.

Fearson was subsequently found dead by Ethan in one of the upstairs rooms of the house. The narrator recorded that his death was a source of pain. He was apparently captured or killed by Lou (Knight of the Crystal Spire) and his associates, as indicated by the words: "Fearson. They got him."
