Minor Locations of The Blood of Giants

This page catalogues the minor locations featured in The Blood of Giants. Each entry describes a site that plays a supporting role in the events of the novel but does not warrant a dedicated wiki article.

High Street Tavern

The High Street Tavern was a tavern located in Rislandia City. In The Blood of Giants, it was the site of an incident involving Marina du Willet, who was captured by the city guard for causing trouble there. As the text records, "she was captured by the city guard some weeks ago for causing trouble in the High Street Tavern."

Glider Dispatch Building

The glider dispatch building — also referred to as a hangar — served as the storage and staging facility for Nightmen gliders and troop carriers in The Blood of Giants. Two Nightmen guards were posted out front. The interior was wide and open, with little furniture and supply lockers along the back wall. Supply crates, parts, and vats of aether fuel were kept within. Human attendants were observed cleaning glider parts inside the building.

An arched opening at the rear of the building led to an overhang and runway. Beyond the runway, a further overhang served as the hangared location of the troop carrier. The building functioned as a staging area for Nightmen raids.

Rhys's Laboratory

Rhys's laboratory was situated within the Nightmen City. In The Blood of Giants, the laboratory contained the blue blob creature in one corner, and experiments organized on a counter by Marina du Willet. The laboratory served as the setting in which Zaira von Monocle, Rhys, and Marina debated their escape plan.

Oyette's Study

Oyette's study was described in The Blood of Giants as follows: "The room was filled with books, floor to ceiling, and had a stone desk in the middle." The desk held parchment paper, writing utensils, a gas lamp, and an ink fountain. The gas lamp provided only dim illumination. When Zaira von Monocle approached the study, the door was open.

Portsgate's Symphonic House

The symphonic house of Portsgate was a notable structure distinguished by its beautiful brick dome. In The Blood of Giants, it was recorded that "the beautiful brick dome of Portsgate's symphonic house had been turned to rubble" following the razing of Portsgate. The building did not survive the destruction of the town.
