The Wyranth Attack on Plainsroad Village was a military assault carried out by the Wyranth Empire against the civilian settlement of Plainsroad Village. The attack resulted in widespread destruction of the village and the deaths of Mr. Gentry and Mrs. Gentry, the parents of James Gentry. It stands as one of the most personally consequential events in James Gentry's history.
Overview
In The Steam Knight, James Gentry recalled the assault as "a fateful night where the Wyranth war engines clacked their way forward until their barrage of armaments attacked my home." Wyranth military war engines advanced on Plainsroad Village and unleashed a sustained barrage that razed the schoolhouse and other structures throughout the settlement.
During the attack, Mr. Gentry ordered James to flee with his sister Zaira von Monocle on the family horse, Lightning. James complied with his father's final instructions, and the two escaped the village together. Both of James's parents were killed in the assault.
