Cappa
Cappa was the chief chef in the kitchen of Oyette's household. A larger woman by description, she hailed from the opposite side of Zenwey and, as a result, had never heard of Rislandia or the Areth continent prior to her encounters with the narrator.
Overview
Cappa held authority over the lower servants working in Oyette's kitchen, issuing orders and managing the day-to-day operations of the household's food preparation. She herself received delegated orders from Layto, placing her within the broader hierarchy of Oyette's staff.
Her geographic origins on the far side of Zenwey meant she was entirely unfamiliar with Rislandian culture or the wider Areth continent, underscoring the cultural distance between Zenwey and the lands to which the narrator belonged.
Role in The Blood of Giants
In The Blood of Giants, Cappa initially regarded the narrator with skepticism, remarking that the narrator was "too scrawny to scrub the floors properly." Over the course of several days, however, she warmed to the narrator.
At one point, Cappa directed the narrator to deliver food to the arena, describing it as a place of fun. Upon the narrator's return, she wasted no time reassigning work, ordering: "Get to work washing those dishes. Then we'll have a fresh load of pots and pans for you."
Through these interactions, Cappa served as a point of contact between the narrator and the inner workings of Oyette's household, and her direction toward the arena proved consequential to the narrator's experiences there.
