General Swift
General Swift was a general in the Wyranth military, notable for his distinctive appearance among his fellow officers and for his role in a confrontation with Baron Theodore von Monocle during the events depicted in The Fight for Rislandia.
Description
General Swift wore the standard uniform of his Wyranth colleagues, distinguished by the absence of the pointed helmet common among Wyranth officers. His uniform was adorned with many colorful ribbons. He had a gaunt face with a goatee. As the source text describes: "He wore the same uniform as his colleagues, but no helmet with their epic points atop them. His uniform was adorned with many colorful ribbons. He had a gaunt face with a goatee."
Role in The Fight for Rislandia
In The Fight for Rislandia, General Swift was confronted by General von Monocle and refused to surrender. In an attempt to escape or gain leverage, he took Zaira von Monocle hostage, holding a knife to her neck. A Rislandian soldier shot the gun from his hand during the standoff. Once Zaira escaped his grip, Swift was killed by multiple gunshots. His body fell on top of Zaira in the aftermath.
In A History of Rislandia
According to A History of Rislandia, General Swift is identified specifically as the Wyranth commander responsible for the occupation of Rislandia City itself — a detail that frames his role as broader than a single confrontation. The sourcebook situates his death within the context of the city's liberation, stating that Rislandia City was liberated in the aftermath of his killing. The bible's phrasing — "Killed after taking Zaira hostage during the city's liberation" — presents the hostage-taking and Swift's death as the climactic moment of the Battle of Rislandia City, implying a direct causal link between his death and the end of the occupation.
The sourcebook does not name any individual Rislandian soldier or officer as the agent of Swift's death, attributing the outcome collectively to the events of the liberation rather than to Baron Theodore von Monocle or any specific combatant.
