In The Fight for Rislandia

Lilly was introduced to her half-sister Zaira when Talyen arrived as part of King Malaky XVI's retinue visiting Zaira. Theodore informed Zaira of the birth with the words: "Talyen had our baby. We're naming her Lilly. You have a sister." Zaira held Lilly for the first time during this encounter. At the time, Lilly's eyes were shut and she had no hair. Her face was described as looking "so smooshed together, almost like a cartoon drawing of a person," though she was considered adorable in her own way.

In The Iron Wedding

During the events surrounding the Iron Wedding, Lilly remained an infant in the palace, carried by her mother Talyen. She was cared for by a nanny, and Zaira acknowledged having neglected to visit her during this period. Lilly had no understanding of the mourning that surrounded those in the palace at the time, described as "baby Lilly who had no idea what was going on." She showed a fondness for Toby, Zaira's ferret, who had been given to Talyen partly for Lilly's benefit. Zaira cautioned Talyen to be careful with ferrets around Lilly until she was older.
