Description
Major Anton was an older man with a gray trimmed beard. He carried himself with the authority of a seasoned officer and demonstrated a degree of personal discipline, reprimanding a subordinate for misconduct toward a prisoner.
Role in For Steam and Country
In For Steam and Country, Major Anton commanded the small group of Wyranth soldiers responsible for capturing Zaira von Monocle and James Gentry. Upon securing the prisoners, he reprimanded a private who had groped Zaira, citing his own daughter as his reason for doing so. He then gripped Zaira's face by the chin and forced her to look him in the eyes, identifying her by name: "Zaira von Monocle, in the flesh." He also mentioned her father, Baron Theodore von Monocle, and claimed that capturing young Zaira could have saved many Wyranth lives. He made clear that his orders were to capture her, not to kill her.
During a break, Major Anton scouted down the road ahead. When the group subsequently encountered a circle of Liliana commandos, he charged their position using a companion's covering fire. He seized Zaira and held her hostage with a knife to her throat. He was shot and killed by Captain von Cravat, at which point his knife went slack against Zaira's neck.
