Rislandian Currency
The monetary systems encountered across the continent included distinct coinage tied to individual kingdoms and coastal regions. The most prominent currency within the Rislandia Kingdom was the Rislandia Kingdom gold mark, while foreign territories such as the Ebony Sands Coast maintained their own separate coinage with markedly different markings.
Rislandia Kingdom Gold Mark
The Rislandia Kingdom gold mark served as the standard gold currency of the Rislandia Kingdom. Its markings were sufficiently distinctive that coins from other regions could be readily identified as foreign by those familiar with it.
In For Steam and Country, the gold mark was referenced when a coin from the Ebony Sands Coast was examined and determined not to be a Rislandia Kingdom gold mark, with the observation: "this isn't a Rislandia Kingdom gold mark."
One-Eyed King's Coin
The One-Eyed King's coin was a gold coin originating from the Ebony Sands Coast. It bore "the markings of a strange tree on the tail's side, and the face of a man known as the One-Eyed King on the other." The face depicted on the coin was that of Renawl, the One-Eyed King.
In For Steam and Country, Marina du Willet gave the coin to Zaira von Monocle to illustrate a story about Baron Theodore von Monocle. The coin's foreign markings distinguished it immediately from standard Rislandian coinage.
In the short stories
Malaky mark
In Tangled Web, Edwin Ral pays for a whiskey in the Loveridge pub with a "Malaky mark", which is "far more than a drink would cost this far into the country".
