Wyranth Palace

Wyranth Palace, sometimes referred to as Ivan's palace, was the principal seat of power for Ivan, the Iron Emperor, situated in the capital of the Wyranth Empire. The palace functioned simultaneously as an imperial residence, an administrative hub, and a secure facility housing dungeons and connections to Ivan's broader network of installations.

Description

The palace was a substantial structure whose most distinctive exterior feature was a giant light that shone upward into the sky, serving as a beacon for the rest of the capital city. As the text records: "It has a giant light which shines upward, a beacon for the rest of the city."

The interior of the palace encompassed several distinct areas. Ivan maintained a personal study within the palace, and guest quarters were available for visitors and dignitaries. Beneath the main structure lay a dungeon, the stone walls and floors of which were periodically illuminated by gas lamps. The palace also provided access to the laboratory situated at Devil's Mountain.

Ivan's personal guard and servants were stationed throughout the palace, ensuring both its security and day-to-day operation.

Role in The Iron Wedding

In The Iron Wedding, Wyranth Palace served as a central location during the events surrounding the titular ceremony. The palace's guest quarters, dungeon, and study each played roles in the unfolding of those events. Ivan, who had been operating under the disguise of ambassador "Andrei Zelezo" through the use of a changeling net, was connected to the palace's operations throughout the novel's events.
