Kade
Kade was a leader of the Wyranth Underground Resistance operating in the capital of the Wyranth Empire. Described as muscular and hard-looking, with a scar under his right eye, he was regarded by those around him as a smart man of authority. He was one of the founding members of the Resistance, having helped build it from small house meetings into a functioning underground organization over the course of nearly a year.
Description
Kade cut an imposing physical figure. As the text of The Iron Wedding describes him: "A man stepped forward, muscular, hard-looking, with a scar under his right eye." His manner of speech was deliberate and measured; he spoke as if he had rehearsed his words several times before delivering them, suggesting a careful and disciplined mind suited to clandestine leadership.
History
Kade was among the first members of the Resistance against Ivan, the Iron Emperor, forming the organization alongside Jacin and a small circle of supporters. Over the course of nearly a year, he helped grow the movement from informal house meetings into the underground hideaway that served as its operational base beneath the Wyranth capital. He believed that continued bloodshed would cause more people to rise up against the Emperor's rule, and he held that the sacrifices of those already killed would be remembered.
Kade also believed that thousands of automatons were being created on the Isle du Mystere, a threat he considered central to the urgency of the Resistance's mission.
Role in The Iron Wedding
In The Iron Wedding, Kade invited Zaira von Monocle to his makeshift office cell within the underground hideaway to discuss how she might assist the Resistance. He sat on a wooden chair at a worn table during this meeting. He declared the Resistance's purpose plainly: "We are the resistance to the Iron Emperor's rule."
Kade requested that Zaira act as a courier and liaison, asking her to send word to Rislandia and obtain supplies — specifically food, bullets, and guns. He expressed a belief that a future friendly relationship between Rislandia and Wyranth was possible, framing the Resistance's struggle as one with broader geopolitical implications. At the conclusion of their meeting, he asked Jacin to show Zaira out.
