Wyranth Iron Mine
The Wyranth Iron Mine was an industrial facility operated by the Wyranth Empire and situated between two hills, several miles off the main road down a trail. Originally functioning as an iron mine, the site was adapted by Wyranth personnel to house the machinery used to produce the Giant's Blood Serum. The facility later became a key objective for Zaira von Monocle and her allies during the events of The Fight for Rislandia.
Description
The mine consisted of a cavern dug out of a hill, with one large entrance capable of admitting vehicles. The interior extended further through additional digging at the back of the cavern. Notable features of the facility included:
- A large pit containing a blue blob creature.
- A wooden rope bridge overhead spanning the interior space.
- Mechanical pipes comparable in design to those observed at Devil's Mountain, behind the Wyranth capital.
- Crates, a laboratory table, glass containers, and scientific instruments.
- The Mine Serum Machine, used to produce the Giant's Blood Serum and later the Counter-Serum.
Barrels of the blue serum were stored within the facility. At least two guard checkpoints were positioned along the road leading to the mine.
History
Wyranth Operation
Under Wyranth control, the mine was staffed by approximately twenty personnel, comprising four guards and the remainder general laborers. The facility was used to produce the Giant's Blood Serum, with barrels of the substance stored on-site.
Role in The Fight for Rislandia
The mine served as the target of a mission led by Zaira von Monocle. Zaira's party followed a trail off the main road for several miles to reach the facility, as recorded in the text: "followed it off the main road for several miles down to an iron mine set between two hills."
Following its capture by Zaira's forces, the facility was repurposed to produce anti-serum rather than the Giant's Blood Serum. Harkerpal succeeded in getting the serum-producing machinery operational a few hours before the evacuation was carried out. The Liliana returned to the mine to collect crew members and a large crate during the evacuation.
Prior to the evacuation, First Sergeant Bartholomew Wright rigged the facility to explode. The mine was subsequently destroyed in the resulting explosion. As noted in the text, "The Wyranth couldn't be allowed to regain control over it," underscoring the strategic reasoning behind its destruction.
