Minor Figures in A History of Rislandia

The following individuals appear briefly in A History of Rislandia, the in-universe scholarly history of Rislandia. Each figure is attested only within that text and does not receive a dedicated article.

Annabel

According to A History of Rislandia, Annabel was a little girl rescued by James Gentry from a pack of were-gophers. Her parents had barricaded themselves inside their home while the creatures dug beneath the walls, leaving Annabel exposed to the threat outside. The text identifies her only by her given name; no family name, age, or location is recorded.

The episode is cited in the sourcebook as an illustration of Gentry's courage and his willingness to act when ordinary citizens could not protect themselves.

Balthar's Son

According to A History of Rislandia, the son of Master Stonemason Balthar completed the Crystal Spire tower after his father's work on the structure. The sourcebook emphasises that he accomplished this feat using traditional techniques alone, with no recourse to magic — relying solely on engineering and physical labour. The text records his achievement in the words: "Master Stonemason Balthar's son completed the tower using traditional techniques—no magic, just engineering and sweat."

His given name is not recorded in the sourcebook. His father, Master Stonemason Balthar, may be related to Balthar Ironshield, though the sourcebook does not make this connection explicit and no such identification should be assumed.

The completion of the Crystal Spire by non-magical means was regarded as a significant demonstration of Rislandian craftsmanship and became part of the tower's founding legacy.

Captain Cedric

According to A History of Rislandia, Captain Cedric was the father of General Aldric Ironhelm. The sourcebook references him only in passing, identifying him by rank and his relationship to the General. No further details regarding his service record, unit, campaigns, or fate are provided in the text.

Note: A page for Captain Cedric Ironhelm exists in the wiki. Readers should consult that article for any additional information drawn from the novels or other sources; the entry above reflects only what A History of Rislandia states.

Everett

According to A History of Rislandia, Everett was a young crewman aboard The Liliana who had joined the crew with, in the sourcebook's words, "longing for adventure in his eyes." He was killed during the dark period of the Fantasy War (Years 375-383). His death was recorded as the fifth consecutive mission on which the crew suffered a casualty, a grim milestone that caused Baron Theodore von Monocle to collapse onto a mess bench fighting tears.

Everett is presented in the sourcebook as emblematic of the human cost borne by the Liliana's crew during the war's most brutal phase. His surname is not recorded.

Note: A separate page for Master Sergeant Everett exists in the wiki. It is not confirmed by the sourcebook alone whether these are the same individual; any identification should be treated with caution until corroborated by novel text.

The Zenwey Shaman

According to A History of Rislandia, an unnamed shaman on the Zenwey continent welcomed the Baron's crew into her hut during what the sourcebook describes as an expedition to that region. She offered the crew a drink called kava and showed Baron Theodore von Monocle a book containing what she presented as the true history of the world — a volume filled with legends of giants, monsters, and ancient civilisations. The sourcebook refers to her with feminine pronouns throughout.

The shaman's name, tribal affiliation, and subsequent fate are not recorded. The book she showed the Baron may relate to broader traditions documented in Zenwey Lore & Customs and the Tribes of Zenwey. The encounter is also connected to The Zenwey Expedition.

The Magistrate System

While not a person, the Magistrate System is recorded in A History of Rislandia as an institution established by King Malaky II in Year 88. It created travelling judges empowered to hear cases in remote areas of Rislandia, meaning that justice no longer required citizens to travel to Rislandia City. The sourcebook credits the system with reducing corruption and local tyranny and with empowering commoners to seek legal redress. The text records it as: "The Magistrate System (Year 88): Established traveling judges to hear cases in remote areas."

This institution forms part of the broader Legal Code of Rislandia and the legacy of the Malaky Dynasty.
